Del 30 al 31 de octubre se desarrollará en Junín el IGSA Continental “Los Portales Tarma 2010”, Campeonato Sudamericano de downhill, un deporte de
aventura que consiste en deslizarse por pistas de asfalto con inclinación suficiente para alcanzar velocidad.
Para poder participar del evento, los postulantes deberán demostrar su talento y mejor tiempo.
Serán seleccionados 30 competidores quienes intentarán batir la marca de 3 minutos en descenso por las pistas de Tarma.
“Es un deporte netamente de velocidad. A diferencia del skate chico, el downhill necesita un patín especial, con ruedas y track más grandes. Es diseñado específicamente para resistir altas velocidades pues se llega alcanzar 90 o 100 km. por hora”, señaló el peruano Felipe Málaga, segundo puesto en el concurso Sudamericano de downhill.
Además del skate, los participantes deben usar un traje especial de cuero que permite protegerlos ante eventuales caídas, así como cascos y guantes especiales.
“Sin la adecuada protección puedes tener caídas fuertes. Es necesario adoptar medidas de seguridad, lo ideal es siempre hacerlo en pistas cerradas para evitar accidentes”, indicó Málaga.
Hasta el momento, cerca de 100 postulantes se han inscrito.
Durante el IGSA Continental “Los Portales Tarma 2010”, nuestro país aspirará a calificar como sede de campeonatos mundiales, categoría obtenida solo por Brasil en Sudamérica.
“Perú cuenta con muy buenas pistas, el Gobierno ha puesto pistas nuevas en Cajamarca, Cusco y Arequipa, donde tenemos la ruta del cañón del Colca. Creo que es un deporte que va de la mano con el turismo y tenemos que explotar ambas cosas”, señaló Pablo Seoane, organizador del evento.
La peruana radicada en Miami, Marita Núñez, No. 12 del mundo, competirá con destacadas figuras como Kevin Reimer, N° 1 de Canadá y N° 1 del mundo, así como James Nelly, N° 1 de Estados Unidos y No. 4 del mundo, Diego Alemparte N° 1 de Chile, y Douglas Silva, N° 1 de Brasil.
El circuito se pasea actualmente por Estados Unidos, Canadá, Italia, Alemania.
